- September 9, 2023 • Xandria (with Ambre Vourvahis), Battle Beast (with Noora Louhimo), Kamelot • Hard Rock Live, Orlando.
- October 14, 2014 • Xandria (with Dianne Van Giersbergen), Delain (with Charlotte Wessels), Sonata Arctica • House of Blues, Orlando. Didn’t stay for the headliner.
- September 10, 2012 • Seven Kingdoms, Kamelot, et al. • State Theatre, St. Petersburg. It was their first show with Tommy Karevik as official lead vocalist.
- September 21, 2008 • Sonata Arctica, Nightwish • Jannus Landing, St. Petersburg. Supposedly Nightwish’s last show with Anette Olzon.
Bands I’ve seen way back when (decades ago) during the heyday of Christian music in Southern California (’80s-’90s): Undercover, 4-4-1, Crumbächer, Priscilla Engle, Darryl Mansfield Band, Oden Fong, Kathy Troccoli, The Kantinas, the list goes on; those are the ones I remember. Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa used to put on outreach concerts every Saturday night that were simulcast over KYMS-FM (how I first heard Stryper in the ’80s); Disneyland used to have Night of Joy and Harvest Night; Maranatha Village and the Alternative dance club existed...
Bands/artists I’ve personally met.
- Mad at the World (Roger Rose worked as a mailman and subbed for our regular carrier one afternoon).
- Randy Stonehill, at Maranatha Village in Costa Mesa, CA. Some point during high school, because the only thing I had for him to autograph was the back of a binder cover I had drawn.
- Tony Guerrero (jazz flugel horn player, writer, arranger, producer, aficionado of all things Louis Armstrong)—my oldest sister’s high school graduating class; served musically in a youth group with him; met up a few more times before I relocated to Florida. Never made any actual music with him, though. I should’ve offered.
